Boom Boom on the Pillow
Encouraging story · ages 1–3 · 2–3 min · Read by Anna
Kerttu had four soft socks on her bed.
"Socks for Benny Bear," said Kerttu.
Benny Bear sat on the pillow and waved his paws.
"My paws are cold," said Benny Bear, and he giggled.
Kerttu pulled one red sock onto his paw.
"One sock," said Kerttu.
Benny Bear wiggled his paw, wiggle, wiggle.
Kerttu pulled one blue sock onto his other paw.
"Two socks," said Kerttu.
Mum sat on the bed beside her.
Pat, pat, pat, went the rain on the window.
"It is raining," said Mum softly.
"There will be some soft rumbling now and then," said Mum.
Far away, a soft boom boom sounded.
Kerttu stopped and looked at Mum.
Mum opened her arms, and Kerttu climbed onto her lap.
Mum put the soft pillow on Kerttu's knees.
Kerttu and Mum patted the pillow together, pat, pat, pat.
"Boom boom, I play along," said Mum.
Benny Bear patted his round tummy, flump, flump.
Kerttu smiled a little smile.
Far away, the soft boom boom came again.
This time Kerttu patted the pillow herself.
"Boom boom, I play along," said Kerttu and Mum together.
The rain went pat, pat on the window.
The rumbling stayed far, far away.
Kerttu leaned on Mum and listened.
Then she picked up the green sock.
"Three socks," said Kerttu, and pulled it on.
Benny Bear yawned a big, slow yawn.
Kerttu picked up the yellow sock, the very last one.
"Four socks," said Kerttu.
Benny Bear wiggled all four warm paws.
"Cosy paws," said Benny Bear with a happy sigh.
Mum gave Kerttu a soft hug.
"I loved drumming on the pillow with you, Kerttu," said Mum.
Mum tucked the blanket around Kerttu and Benny Bear.
"Good night, Kerttu," said Benny Bear.
